Introduction
Welcome to the the Austria Philatelic Society (US), also known as AUSPS. On this site we present articles of interest and useful information to help you with collecting Austria and Austria related areas, as well as gain knowledge in the postal history of Austria. Our hope is you will at least be encouraged to visit our site again as we add new content and interesting articles from our journal. We feel we have a good deal of useful, unique, and entertaining information to offer about Austrian philately!
Our Beginnings
Our predecessor group was the Austria Philatelic Society of New York, which was formed in New York City in 1948 and quietly faded away some time circa 1975, apparently when the driving force members passed away. The New York group published a quarterly bulletin and held regular meetings in New York for the local members.
The only other English-speaking Austria collector group of which we are aware of is the Austrian Philatelic Society or APS which is in the United Kingdom and publishes an excellent quarterly journal. We continue to maintain friendly working relationships with this club as the AUSPS grows.
