Our Secretary-Treasurer has delved into the archives and has found several articles from the original Austria Philatelic Society of New York. The one featured presently is on 'Rocket Mail' and was written over 45 years ago, but still provides us with interesting information.

Austria's Personal Stamps is a report by member Joyce Boyer. A number of countries, including Great Britain, have produced some form of label attached to the normal postage stamp to make them 'personal' to the user but the label has no significance. Rizza has provided us with the following: Austria's loss of national independence to Germany in March 1938 also meant the loss of its identity; it was renamed the Ostmark, or the Eastern Province.
